  • Intro:

Daniil Kvyat recently looked ahead to his maiden Formula One season with Toro Rosso.

With Daniel Ricciardo promoted to Red Bull, there is a spare seat at Toro Rosso for the 2014 F1 season.

That position will be filled by Daniil Kvyat - a 19-year-old from Ufa, Russia who won the 2013 GP3 Series.

SOUNDBITE: (English) (on taking part in free practice ahead of the USA and Brazilian Grands Prix in 2013):

"Well it was a great opportunity for me to learn the car and to get some mileage and of course to get to know the team a little bit more. So it's really important for the next year, to know the guys really well. So yes, I'm really happy and it went really well, mistake free, quite a decent amount of mileage. So yes, it's been really useful."

SOUNDBITE: (English) (on whether he was happy with his times in free practice sessions):

"Yes, it was good ending up (within) two-tenths (of a second) off Daniel (Ricciardo). He's a really experienced guy already with a lot of speed in himself, so it was nice to know I could end up quite close to him and also on the data I learned many things, and yes, in Brazil finally we had a really good run. So it was very encouraging run for me. I didn't do too many laps, but still I ended up P (position) eight, so it (is) looking really promising so far."
