Guangdong Evergrande claim bronze at the FIVB Women's Club World Championship

    Asian champions Guangdong Evergrande defeated hosts Volero Zurich 3:1 to claim bronze at the 2013 FIVB Women's Club World Championship on Sunday (October 13).

    Script:

    Volero Zurich and Guangdong Evergrande met in Pool A of the 2013 FIVB Women's Club World Championship, with the Swiss side coming out on top by three sets to one.

    On Sunday the two sides faced each other in the 3rd and 4th play-off match at the Championships, both looking to take the bronze medal.

    23-20 up in the first, Guandong lost a tough opening set 24-26 with hosts Volero Zurich taking an early lead.

    They then trailed 15-11 in the second set, but managed a come back to level at 1-1, winning 25-23.

    This seemed to encourage the Asian champions, who then went on to win the third set 25-18 and then take the bronze medal, winning the fourth 25-21.

    Depsite losing the opening set, Guangdong went on to win 3-1 and take some pride out of a tournament they would have hoped to have won.

    As well as a successful revenge for Volero's 3:1 triumph in the preliminary round.
