Script:
The Houston Rockets prepare to hit south-east Asia.
Heading for the Philippines to face the Indiana Pacers in the first NBA game in this basketball-crazy nation.
After Manila, the Rockets and Pacers play in Taipei in Taiwan, where there's also sure to be great interest..
Especially with the Rockets squad including Jeremy Lin, the league's first American-born player of Taiwanese descent.
He's expecting quite a reception:
"It's going to be fun. Just going to Asia and hanging out with the fans over there. For once they don't have to watch on TV. So I think it's going to be special for them, special for us. It's going to be a unique experience."
Organisers say the game will be part of the NBA's comprehensive global schedule that will see eight teams play in eight cities in six countries this October.
Lin's team mate Dwight Howard not looking forward to the travel:
"I think it's what an 18 hour flight., So really not happy about that - it's a long flight. But it will be a good time for us to bond and get really acquainted with each other."
The Philippines topping the list of countries following the NBA on Facebook and Twitter outside the United States.
Rockets coach Kevin McHale says it's win-win:
"It'll be a good chance for everyone to get together. We're kind of a new team. Play a really really good team in Indiana. That'll be good for us to play a team that's bringing back probably 8 of their top 10, 11 guys. That's big. So it will be good for us."
