The Los Angeles Lakers held their media day on Saturday, September 28th, ahead of their 2013-14 training camp.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers Guard:

"I'm feeling good, I'm feeling good. New season, new teammates? "It's, you know it's always good to come back and start the year again and, you know, kind of start anew."

SOUNDBITE (English): Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers Guard:

"Every year you step into the league your goal is to win a championship. You know, that's the thing is to get into the top of that mountain and if I'm fortunate enough to win a sixth one, it'd be just, it'd be a dream come true."

SOUNDBITE (English): Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers Guard, on Dwight Howard leaving for less money in Houston:

Now that we're a few months away from it, are you surprised that Dwight (Howard) left after all the effort you put in personally to try and convince him to stay?

"Not really." Because? "Because I felt like he was, after the meeting I felt like he was gonna go to Houston." Really? "Yeah." He could basically, he didn't give you the confidence to say, was he just sort of wishy-washy at the time? "Honestly man, I really don't give a (expletive deleted). It is what it is. If he came back it would have been great, if he didn't, so it's not - it is what it is."

SOUNDBITE (English): Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers Guard, on if he was happy with the new acquisitions:

"I think so, I think so. You know we filled the holes we were weak at last year in terms of that length and athleticism to cover the ground - especially defensively. You have those guys who have that length and that speed that can close out the shooters and then shut down penetration on the rotation."

SOUNDBITE (English): Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers Guard, on the low expectations for this season:

"We can quietly go about our business and try to form a team. You know, we may not be as talented as last year but we're different. We're more versatile I think and I think we also have a chance to have some great chemistry so it's going to be exciting to try to build a team and maybe surprise people."

SOUNDBITE (English): Mike D'Antoni, Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach, on what he wants to get out of the pre-season:

"Well, to come out of it with a team that we're cohesive, and the chemistry good and everybody healthy - as much as we can be - but a foundation of building, building a winning team."
