    STORYLINE: Sun Yang claimed Korea's Park Tae-hwan's 200-metre Freestyle Asian record on day Six of the 12th Chinese National Games in Liaoning, China on Friday (September 6).

    The 12th Chinese National Games reached the half-way point in Liaoning Province, China on Friday.

    Chinese swimming star Sun Yang was attempting to win his third gold medal in the men's 200-metre freestyle.

    And he led all the way to win the gold and also took down the Asian record with a personal best of 1 minute and 44.47 seconds.


    In women's team badminton, Jiangsu took on the Peoples Liberation Army team for gold.

    It was tied at was one-all when London Olympic champion Li Xuerui defeated Jiangsu's former world number one Wang Shixian in the third match - in straight games.

    Needing just one more win for gold Xiong Rui and Xiao Jia got it done for the PLA.

    It was the PLA's first badminton team victory at the National Games.

    The shooting events came to a close with two golds on offer.

    In the men's skeet final, an extra session was set up between Shandong's Wang Ying and his teammate Liu Jian.

    Wang finally won it 9-7 to seal the gold.

    Meanwhile in the women's 10-metre air pistol final, Shanxi's Guo Wenjun led after the first round and held on to win gold
