Chinese sailor Guo Chuan finished his circumnavigation of the globe on Friday (April 5th), coming home in 137 days, 20 hours, one minute and 57 seconds, and sailing his Class 40 boat to the Olympic Sailing Centre in east China's Qingdao.

    Script:

After over four months of non-stop sailing around the world, Chinese sailor Guo Chuan arrived in the city of Qingdao, the port from which he departed over 137 days ago.

An emotional Guo has rounded Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope, crossed the equator twice, and sailed across the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean.

The adventurer's global route passed through the most dangerous waters on the planet and exceeded a distance of 21,600 miles, the benchmark which validates a circumnavigation in accordance with the rules of the World Sailing Speed Record Council.

Should his time be approved, Guo will be honoured as the record holder of the Class 40 circumnavigation.

Guo told his supporters: "I am back, finally. I am extremely proud, especially to be Chinese and I am proud to be born in Qingdao."

The completion of the global voyage made him the first Chinese sailor to succeed in sailing single-handed and non-stop around the world.
