A strong finish from Master Overseer was enough to win the Grade Three Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Friday.

David Pipe's gelding backed up success in the Midlands National back in March as he set off in front under jockey Tom Scudamore.

Crash was keeping up with the leading group until he succumbed to nominative determinism in a heavy fall during the latter stages.

That allowed Quartz de Thaix to throw down a determined challenge.

Aidan Coleman had the Venetia Williams-trained eight-year-old narrowly in front at a point in the run-in, but Master Overseer made a courageous final jump
to stick his neck out and win by three-quarters of a length.

Planet Of Sound made some progress to get into contention before finishing 10 lengths back in third while 15-8 favourite Bradley was always behind and finished in an uncompetitive fifth.
