Both Agnieszka Radwanska and Sara Errani have been on top form this season but something had to give during the pair's second round meeting at the Madrid Open on Wednesday.

Italy's Errani has won three titles in four months, but Radwanska has moved into the top three in the world and she dominated the first set, taking it 6-0.

Errani had won 16 matches in a row before the tie, but Radwanska brought that run to an abrupt end with a 6-0 6-1 victory.

The Pole will face another Italian, Roberta Vinci, in the third round.

Li Na is also through to the third round after a straights win over Angelique Kerber.

The world number eight edged the first set 7-5.

Na's aggression was key to ensuring victory and she broke the German for a third time to clinch a 7-5 6-4 win and a third round encounter with world number one Victoria Azarenka.
