With his spot on the Chinese Olympic team still in doubt, top-seeded Chen Jin needed a win against Indonesia's Simon Santoso in the men's singles semi-final of the Australian Badminton Open on Saturday.

Chen took a tough first game and then fought back in the second to secure the match 22-20, 21-15.

He'll play Vietnam's Tien Minh Nguyen in the final after he knocked out second-seeded Sho Sasaki of Japan in straight games 21-19, 21-15.

In the women's singles, South Korea's Bae Youn-joo made quick work of Japan's Ai Goto, advancing to Sunday's final with a 21-19, 21-11 win.

Bae will take on China's Han Li, a relative unknown who moved into the final after knocking out South Korea's Sung Ji-hyun 21-15, 21-12.

China also progressed into the women's doubles final as Luo Ying and Luo Yu dominated defending champions Shizuka Matsuo and Mami Naito of Japan in straight games, 21-16, 21-15.
