    Script:

Two former world number ones met in the semi-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open in Florida on Thursday.

Caroline Wozniacki gained the early advantage over Maria Sharapova, taking the first set 6-4.

That seemed to fire Sharapova up - the Russian dominated the second set before sealing it 6-2 to set up a decider.

And she continued to overpower Wozniacki, clinching a spot in the final with a 4-6 6-2 6-4 victory.

A clearly unhappy Wozniacki refused to shake the umpire's hand due to his decision not to call for a double fault as Sharapova served for the match.

As a three-time runner-up in the tournament - Sharapova gained confidence from the win.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Sharapova

"I knew that I had to go back to what helped me get to a position of being 4-1 in the first set so I did a good job of that and I maintained that as well so that kept my confidence high."

Sharapova will face either Agnieszka Radwanska or Marion Bartoli in the final.
