Tottenham manager latest: Offer tabled to Ralf Rangnick

Word stemming from Germany this weekend suggests that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Ralf Rangnick, over the club's vacant managerial position.

Mou dismissed

Amid the widespread turmoil surrounding all matters Super League-related, one story slipped somewhat under the radar in England early last week.

This of course came in the form of Tottenham's decision to part ways with Jose Mourinho.

On the back of yet another damaging pair of points dropped at Everton, the board in north London came to the decision that the Portuguese no longer represented the right man to lead them forward.

In turn, an official statement regarding the matter was released on Monday afternoon:

Rangnick offer

Mourinho has since been replaced by Ryan Mason, who is set to oversee matters at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Mason's chances of securing the job on a permanent basis, though, look slim.

In turn, ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, Daniel Levy and co. are expected to target another high-profile tactician, to lead a concerted push towards establishing the club as a permanent member of the Premier League's top-4.

To this point, the likes of Brendan Rodgers, Julian Nagelsmann, Steven Gerrard and even ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino have been touted as potential instalments on the bench in north London.

As the options continue to thin out, though – Nagelsmann is set for Bayern Munich, whilst Erik ten Hag has committed to a new contract at Ajax – those in a position of power in north London have been forced to expand their search.

And, this weekend, a new contender has not only entered the fray, but seemingly taken the lead in the Spurs boss sweepstakes.

The individual in question? Ralf Rangnick.

According to Christian Falk of German outlet SportBild, former RB Leipzig boss Rangnick 'has been offered' the role on the Lilywhites bench.

In turn, whilst 'scepticism' remains on the part of some members of the Tottenham board, 'talks will come' with the 62-year-old, ahead of a potentially exciting new era in north London:

'We have already talked about how Rangnick and Tottenham could become hot, and I have now heard quite specifically that he was offered the job.'

'In any case, he is on the shortlist, and that means talks will come.'

'From the club, he still hears a bit of scepticism, but he's already held talks with Manchester United and Everton in the UK in the past that never quite worked out.'

'There must have been reasons for that, we don't know them all, but it's nice that he's now being discussed.'

'They need a new Tuchel, and in the UK, they believe the German coaches have done a lot of groundwork, which could be a big ace in the hole for Rangnick to Tottenham.'
