Liverpool's poor defence of their Premier League crown has led to some rather unfair criticism of Jurgen Klopp, especially when you factor in the injuries in key positions he has been forced to negotiate, yet as calls for his time at Anfield to end increase, the German has maintained that he is due a sabbatical from the sport.
Joachim Low's decision to step down from his role as German national coach after the European Championship in the summer has led to speculation that Klopp could take that job in the near future, although the former Mainz coach appears to have other plans.
"The sabbatical will definitely happen, definitely," Klopp declared in an interview with Sport Bild.
"If we don't win any more Premier League games and the thinking of the owners' changes, I'll take a year off, no ifs and buts.
"This is clearly an agreement with my family, and probably with my family doctor as well, one thing is clear: when Liverpool ends, there will definitely be a year off, nobody needs to call, no mater who tries, it's a one-year break."
