The Cherries sacked Jason Tindall at the start of February, placing Jonathan Woodgate in interim charge and are on the hunt for a full-time successor.

Former boss Eddie Howe as well as Chelsea legends Frank Lampard and John Terry have also been linked with the managerial vacancy.

The Bournemouth board have been locked in meetings and interviews for the last two weeks and have spoken to the Frenchman.

However SunSport understands he has not yet been interviewed, although the Cherries would be interested in a formal discussion with the World Cup winner.

Gunners icon Henry is currently in charge at MLS side Club de Foot Montreal, formerly Montreal Impact.

Henry started his coaching career as Roberto Martinez's assistant with Belgium before earning his first managerial post at Monaco, where he only lasted 20 matches before being fired.

He was appointed at Montreal in November 2019 and has overseen nine wins, four draws and 16 defeats in his 29 matches at the helm.

A return to England could perhaps be the trigger for a more successful reign as manager, with Henry enjoying an incredible playing career on these shores with Arsenal.

The former striker won two Premier League titles and scored 226 goals to become the Gunners' all-time top scorer.

OLD RIVALS

Henry is in competition with his old Invincibles skipper Patrick Vieira who is also on Bournemouth's shortlist as they look to name a new permanent boss.

Lampard, 42, was sacked by Chelsea last month but has experience of the Championship having previously led Derby to the play-offs before moving to Stamford Bridge in 2019.

Aston Villa assistant Terry is also familiar with the second-tier having been Dean Smith's No2 since 2018.

Tindall only lasted six months in the South Coast hot seat after replacing Howe following the club's relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.

He was Howe's No2 at the Vitality Stadium before getting the top job but was axed after the 2-1 defeat at home to strugglers Sheffield Wednesday left the Cherries sixth in the table two weeks ago.

One win in his last eight matches was enough for the board to make a change.

Former Real Madrid and England defender Woodgate had only days previously been added to the coaching set-up as Tindall's No2.

Bournemouth occupy sixth spot - the last play-off place - and are unbeaten in their last three under the former Boro boss.
