Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo hints at interest in Chelsea's Olivier Giroud

Andrea Pirlo has recently been discussing the possibility of Chelsea's Giroud joining Juventus.

Giroud's Chelsea stint

The first half of last season saw Olivier Giroud barely afforded a minute of action in the Premier League.

This resulted in January speculation that the veteran forward was set to be on the move, with Tottenham and Inter Milan linked.

However, in the end, a move failed to come to fruition.

Amid the struggles of Tammy Abraham for both form and fitness, though, Giroud was subsequently handed a number of starts over the second half of the campaign.

The opening months of the current season, though, saw the attacker's time on the pitch slashed once again.

In turn, with the European Championships just around the corner, France boss Didier Deschamps urged Giroud to 'find another solution' to his situation.

Remarkably, however, recent months have seen Frank Lampard make yet another U-turn when it comes to the Frenchman's place in his side.

Giroud has featured in the Blues' last four Champions League outings, across which he has scored five goals.

The 34-year-old has also been a fairly regular contributor in the Premier League of late.

This, in turn, has led to claims that Chelsea are hoping to keep hold of the veteran hitman until the summer, when his current contract is due to expire.

Despite the Blues' keenness to maintain Giroud's services for the time being, though, the striker is still seemingly of interest to at least one club.

Speaking on the back of his side's win over Udinese on Sunday, Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo was drawn on the possibility of landing Giroud, to which the Italian responded by suggesting that the Chelsea man would be a 'handy' addition to the Bianconeri's ranks:

"He'd be handy!

"The window opens tomorrow, we already discussed with the club what we want to do and if there are any opportunities. Maybe a striker that can rotate with our strikers."
