7M Features: A Guide to A-League

The finals series of A-League consists of six teams who are placed by rank, as determined at the end of the regular season. The finals series runs over three weeks, with all games being sudden death, leading to a sudden-death grand final to decide the overall A-League competition. The first and second placed teams at the conclusion of the regular season are rewarded with a bye in the first week of the Finals Series and the advantage of hosting each of their semi-finals in the second week of the finals series.

At present, the final stage of A-League is coming, combined with the current state of teams and the impact of rules, we will offer you some guidelines on five teams.

Sydney FC

Sydney FC took a goalless draw against Perth Glory on home field in the last round, which is acceptable for both teams. Now the league leaders already took 47 points with a 10-point margin. Therefore they tend to slow things down on the pitch going into the 60th minute with a draw.

For example, their next match against Wellington Phoenix is likely to be this case.

Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix are one of the best teams in the league in terms of total market value. They are the best well-balanced team this season with the likes of Ulises Davila, David Ball and Gary Hooper. The England duo already bagged 12 goals and 8 assists together so far this season. They won their last game against Melbourne Victory with goals from this trio.

Wellington are the 3rd best defensive and the 6th best offensive team in the league. Besides, they are the 2nd best hosts with under 1 goal conceded per home game. They never lost any of their last 8 home games with 6 consecutive wins, including a 2-2 draw against top dogs Sydney and a 1-0 victory over the 2nd-placed Melbourne City.

We may go for them in the following home games.

Adelaide United

Adelaide United are the only team that take no draw so far this season. They just suffered their 12th loss of the season on home soil in the last round as the 2nd weakest defensive team, where they conceded over 40 goals in total.

Adelaide conceded 15 goals in their last 4 league games with an aggressive style. In their last 2 games, they conceded most goals from easy counter-attacks with a rusty defense.

As the 7th team, they tied with 6th-placed Western United with one more game played. It’s obvious that they want to get into the play-offs, so we may go for OVERs in their future matches.

Central Coast Mariners

The bottom side Central Coast only won 4 games so far this season, and their last victory was three months ago with all defeats out of the last 9 rounds. Meanwhile, they are the weakest offensive and defensive team with 14 points behind the 6th team.

There is no relegation in A-League, so the losing streak is a huge blow to the Central Coast morale. In the following games, we may go for them under the AH line of -1.00 or less.

Newcastle Jets

Newcastle Jets signed some players in the middle of the season. They have former Shanghai SIPG midfielder Bernie Ibini and Welsh international Joe Ledley. The Jets, who performed poorly in the early part of the season, have ushered in a recent blowout. They never lost any of their last 6 league games, proving that the rebound is not a false fire. We may go for them as the underdogs in AH.
