Ebbsfleet will face Tranmere in the semi-finals of the National League play-offs after beating Aldershot 5-4 on penalties at the EBB Stadium following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The score in the eliminator tie was 0-0 after 90 minutes, with Ebbsfleet’s Danny Kedwell having had a penalty saved by Lewis Ward.
The hosts then took the lead through Portsmouth loanee Nicke Kabamba’s header shortly after half-time in extra-time, before former Aldershot player Dave Winfield netted a late equaliser to send the contest to a shoot-out.
The home side went 3-1 up, with Ward making two saves, but they could not finish the job off, and after Ebbsfleet drew level at 4-4, Ward’s spot-kick struck the post before Dean Rance’s effort sealed victory for the visitors.
Ebbsfleet now take on Tranmere at Prenton Park on Saturday.
