Jurgen Klopp confirms Emre Can might have played his last game for Liverpool

Liverpool will have to cope without midfielder Emre Can for the rest of the season, as the German will be out for weeks after sustaining a back injury in March.

In an interview with Sky Sports Klopp was asked if Can will be out until the end of the season, which he answered affirmatively.

The 50-year-old also addressed the loss of Adam Lallana and Joel Matip: "If you lose three players in a week, that is of course not good," said Klopp.

The Reds will have to make do without those midfielders when they travel to the Etihad on Tuesday for the quarter-final second leg in the Champions League.

Can's contract with Liverpool runs out at the end of the current season and at present there are no talks on-going about a new deal being signed.

Liverpool have the advantage of a 3-0 lead over their Premiership rivals and Klopp is confident they can hold onto it this evening.

Speaking to reporters prior to the game, the Liverpool gaffer was mindful of the good position his side is in, but he emphasised that they still have their work cut out for them against one of the best coaches in the world in Pep Guardiola

"We are not thinking about who is favourite," he said.

"It is better than I expected but you all know there is still a lot of work to do.

"We all know about Pep – best coach in the world. It was clear they would be outstanding but there is no perfect football team in the world.

"They have it most consistently, that is why they will be champions, but we know they can concede goals."

City have demonstrated that they can concede many goals, having let six go past them in their last two games, but on the other side of that coin, the Citizens haven't failed to score at home all season.

The two sides clash at the Etihad Tuesday night, with the onus on City to score early.
