France: Lille fans celebrate after team wins French Ligue 1 title for fourth time

  • Lille fans erupted with joy after their team won the Ligue 1 title following a 2-1 victory over Angers on Sunday, for the first time since 2011.

    A large crowd of supporters gathered in the city centre to celebrate the victory of their local team, past the 21:00 curfew.

    "It's unbelievable, it was an incredible season because we couldn't be at the stadium to support them but we always followed them. Winning again the PSG, it's the best thing that could happen to us," said a fan.

    The team is supposed to fly back overnight and is expected to parade in the city by bus on Monday.
