Mourinho discusses player rotation

Wednesday, April 18 2018 by 7MTV
  • SOUNDBITE (English): Jose Mourinho, Manchester United manager:

Q: Will you rotate for the English Premier League match at Bournemouth on Wednesday (18th April) ahead of FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur?

"Rotating is not the right word. If I play a player against Bournemouth and the player is phenomenal, he plays in the (FA Cup) semi-final. Rotating means that a player who does not play, is getting a rest for the semi-final. So, the word is not rotation, the word is an opportunity for people to play, and to try to get a place in the team for Spurs. Some of the guys that played (in 1-0 defeat to West Brom on 15th April) don't have a place in that team."

SOUNDBITE (English): Jose Mourinho, Manchester United manager:

"So what is the criteria for a manager to chose the team? I only know one criteria (to pick a team), it's the way you play. It's the only way I can select players, or do you want me to pick them for the price they cost, or their salary, or their beautiful face. The only way is to go with performance."
