    "Obviously a day I never thought I would see come and now that it has obviously massive elation for me and everyone close to me.

    Reporter: You never thought this day would come?

    Pope: No.

    Reporter: Why?

    Pope: I've worked through the (lower) leagues. Some cold dark ones (means days). The Ryman league, and even lower than that and then also League Two and the Conference and the Conference South. It's a level (now) with this national team that you think is too far away almost."

    "I was released from Ipswich (Town) at 16 (years-old). I got told that I wasn't good enough and at that point you are lower than a snake's belly. That's the point where you think the dream is over so I'd say that's the lowest point that I've been at."

    "I am here now so it's obviously a bonus. I think if I weren't in this squad then a shot at the World Cup was probably an outsider at most. The fact that I am here (means) I have to prove myself at this level."
