Germany's Mats Hummels admires Northern Ireland's defense ahead of World Cup qualifier at top of Group C

  • SOUNDBITE: (German) Mats Hummels, Germany defender:

"Admiration for Northern Irish supporters, yes, but you're not here to exchange pleasantries are you? No. Our mission is to put the final seal on our qualifying campaign tomorrow and not as late as Sunday. I've talked to some of our scouts about the strength of the Northern Ireland team and I must say they are fantastic in defence. In the whole qualifying campaign they've only conceded one goal and that was against ourselves so they'll be a hard nut to track tomorrow night."

SOUNDBITE: (German) Joachim Low, Germany coach:

"Well it does have the atmosphere of a 'final' with the first place against the second team in the group. Northern Ireland have practically qualified for the World Cup in Russia. They could even go top in the group. So there will definitely be more risk in the game because they have nothing to lose and will go for it. It will be special for me as the crowd will be very energetic. It will be good healthy football. Yes they have exceeded expectations to get to where they are but they fully deserve it. There is a lot at stake and both teams know it."
