Blatter 'confident' ahead of FIFA ban appeal

  • Sepp Blatter arrived in Lausanne, Switzerland on Thursday (25th August) ahead of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appeal hearing regarding his FIFA ban.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Sepp Blatter, Former FIFA President:

    "I am very confident that we can go forward, I am very happy I have the possibility to be at the Tribunal Arbitral du Sport (Court of Arbitration of Sport). It is an institution that we at FIFA also in favour of this...let's say to this tribunal. I'm going to defend the situation and I sure at the end or perhaps I can't say sure, the panel will understand that the payment made to (Michel) Platini was really a debt that we had against him it is the principal, if you have debts you pay them."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Sepp Blatter, Former FIFA President:

    "We are on the football game finally and on the football game you have situation the referee is whistling and then one player says I have done nothing and other the same and the referee has to decide. It's the same here today. As I was a footballer for years I will accept the verdict, I do hope it will be positive for me, but we are footballers, we learned to win but also we learn to lose and it we not be the end of the world."
