Andre Gray a 'changed man' - Dyche

Friday, August 26 2016 by SNTV
  • Burnley manager Sean Dyche faced questions on Thursday (25th August), about revelations of his striker, Andre Gray's, offensive tweets. Dyche was speaking ahead of his club's away fixture in the English Premier League at Chelsea on Saturday (27th August).

"I didn't need to - he rang me on Saturday night and made it clear what happened, um because I'm not on twitter. I was made aware of it. He rang me and said 'this is an old thing, this is not me any more' I said 'absolutely'. And I thought he made it very clear in his statement.

"He's a man who's learning and he's made it quite clear on that. And he is improving both on and off the pitch.

Question: What about his team mates? Have they had to rally round?

"I thought he came on last night (against Accrington Stanley) and looked absolutely clear-minded and delivered a very good performance, because he has made his peace with that moment I think and moved forward and that's what you have to do."

"Well, certainly in my experience - I can't govern every inch of everyone's life at our football club but in my experience professionally, and when he is around us he's been very very positive about everything that we've done, everything that he can do in the community etc etc, and what you think is right about a professional footballer. You know it's a four year old situation, and we certainly can't govern what came before us, and we can't really govern every inch of their lives either".

"It's up to them (the FA) - you know, Andre said his piece, made it clear what his feelings were on it, and it's up to the FA (on what further action they might take). That's as simple as that.
