US team defined by success, not Lochte - Blackmun

  • Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Olympic Committee, Scott Blackman, sums up Team USA's Olympic Games.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Scott Blackmun, Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Olympic Committee:

"At the end of the day, like Larry (USOC Chairman Larry Probst), I love listening to the 'Star Spangled Banner'. We were fortunate to be able to hear it a lot. And to see those images of our athletes, on the podium, whether it was for gold, or otherwise, are what I think the American public is going to remember. Yes, I mean people are going to remember the incident with the swimmers, but that doesn't define these Games by any means. These Games, for us, are going to be defined by the great performances of our athletes, and for the organising committee, by the fact that despite all of the controversy leading in, whether it was water quality, or zika, or security, that these Games have been really well produced and enjoyed by the people who participated. Most of all the athletes."
