"Greatest ever" Bolt sends Jamaican fans wild

Tuesday, August 16 2016 by SNTV
  • Olympic fans in Rio watched and enjoyed Usain Bolt's victory in the men's 100m at the Rio Olympics on Sunday, 14 August.

When Usain Bolt runs...the world stops for his Jamaican fans.

And in less than 10 seconds, he'd done it again. Olympic 100m champion for a third consecutive games. And Jamaica house went wild once again.

9.81 seconds was his exact winning time, perhaps not as quick as he was expecting but still more than enough to beat Justin Gatlin and the rest of the field.

And those lucky enough to see their man make history as the first 3-time Olympic champion in sprinting, there was no doubt about his standing in the sport.

    SOUNDBITE (English): Marlon Thompson:

"Brilliant race. Usain Bolt did fantastically well. We know that he is a champion. There were no doubts coming in. There was some talking - one person in particular - but he is a champion, he is a legend and he has shown it tonight."

SOUNDBITE (English): Robert (No surname given):

"That's the only reason why I travelled from Jamaica to here - to see Usain Bolt do it the third time and he didn't fail me. The greatest ever."

The story isn't over for Bolt, with golds to defend in the 200m and the 100m relay. In this form he looks set to continue making history.
