Farah on 'emotional' Rio win

Monday, August 15 2016 by SNTV
  • Great Britain's Mo Farah looked back on Sunday (14th August) on his victory in Saturday's 10,000 metres at the Rio Olympics.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mo Farah, Gold, 10,000m, Great Britain (on being emotional after his win):

"Oh, man.... I got really emotional as I crossed the line. Because I worked for it a lot this year and at one point I thought the race was over. I managed to get through it. In my mind all I was thinking was my daughter.... I promised her I was going to get her a medal, so I wasn't going to let her down. And when I crossed the line I couldn't believe I did it. And I've never been like that before."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mo Farah, Gold, 10,000m, Great Britain (on what he thought when he fell):

"I thought at that point it (race) is gone. It was early on in the race, I was very lucky. I had to be strong and just not panic. And gradually worked my way through it and closed the pack. But guys at the front didn't see me, so.... if they would have seen me fall down I think they would've hammered it down (sped up)."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mo Farah, Gold, 10,000m, Great Britain (on his achievements):

"I'm very proud to win three gold medals, it is not easy. Most athletes dream of just one gold medal and to have three medals is pretty amazing. I just want to keep winning medals for my country and make the nation proud."
