Olympic golds 'the greatest satisfaction' - Ledecky

Sunday, August 14 2016 by SNTV
  • A day after winning her fourth gold medal, and fifth overall, in Rio de Janeiro with a world record in the 800 metres freestyle, USA's Katie Ledecky said on Saturday (13th August) she has met all her goals for the current Olympic Games.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Katie Ledecky:

"Yeah, I think what I've done this week will slowly sink in. And I think Bruce (coach Bruce Gemmell) and I were both really happy with how this week has gone, and how it reflects on the work we've both put in the past four years. I think that's the greatest satisfaction I could have."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Katie Ledecky:

"As I've said, I've met all my goals. I think more importantly, I've had more fun than I could have ever imagined. Again, I just can't speak highly enough about this team, and the friends that I've made. And just how inspirational it's been to watch some really incredible performances."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Katie Ledecky (on teammate Michael Phelps)

"It's been an honour to be on two Olympic teams with him. Last time was his last, and this time was his last. So I get to say I was at Michael Phelps last Olympics two times. Which is cool. You know, maybe there'll be a third time. But we're just all so happy to see him happy, and to see him doing so well in the pool, and taking on a leadership role on the team."
