  • Joseph Schooling's father Colin celebrated his son's gold medal performance in the Olympic 100 metres butterfly final on Saturday (13th August).

SOUNDBITE (English) Colin Schooling, father of Joseph Schooling:

"I'm going to have to pinch myself to feel whether I feel alive or not. But well, Singapore, he delivered what you wanted and did it in style, being the first Olympian gold medallist for Singapore, like his uncle was the first Olympian for Singapore in 1948. So this is a very, very special moment in history."

SOUNDBITE (English) Colin Schooling, father of Joseph Schooling:

"I would like to just say this... this is all about love. If you love your off-springs, and you treasure them and you take care of them, you know, you just believe in them."

SOUNDBITE (English) Colin Schooling, father of Joseph Schooling:

"I think it will be the world record, that he will be heading in, but the most important thing is to be an ambassador for all our children in Singapore and give them hope, that they also can do it, there's nothing special about him, just a boy who was just interested in a sport and we had the means to provide him with what he wants and also with the help of Singapore's sporting association - Singapore's Swimming Association - we had everybody, including all you all people, all you good people in Singapore, my brothers and sisters."
