Misbah-ul-Haq gives credit to England for win

Monday, August 08 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq after England beat his side by 141 runs in the third test at Edgbaston on Sunday (7th August) to lead the series 2-1.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan captain (on being beaten despite being in a good position after day two):

"Yes, it can happen in cricket. I mean full credit to the English team, the way they fought back in this game after being or conceding a lead of more 120 runs. I think they played really well and especially the way they bowl in both innings, especially in the second innings. That was a really good spell, especially after lunch today."

    Q. "They played very well then, but do you feel that you let them back in at any point?"

"We tried hard, I mean everybody really put their effort, but credit should be given to the opposition the way they just fought in the second innings and especially yesterday in the last session the way Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali played. That was the part that really pulled them back in the game."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan captain (on the lifting the players morale after such a disappointing defeat):

"The good thing is that this match is gone now, and we've got one game left and still we can win that and still share the series though. That's what we really have to think and I mean, think about the next game. We cannot do anything about this game now."
