Saturday, August 06 2016 by SNTV
  • Team USA say despite aiming for a third straight gold medal, they won't be room for complacency, ahead of their opening Group A game against China at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kevin Durant, USA men's basketball team forward:

"It's a different team, but it's the same group of guys, as far as, like, personalities and skill sets, I feel it's just different names with the same type of group. I'm looking forward to playing them all, man. We got our first test against China and hopefully we can pass."

SOUNDBITE: (English) DeMar DeRozan, USA men's basketball team guard:

"We don't overlook nobody, honestly we with respect for every single team and we play no matter who it is, and we understand they're going to give us their best shots. So if we slack one minute, you know the game's not that long, you can't have any room of error for long, for a period of time, the teams can take advantage of it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jimmy Butler, USA men's basketball team guard:(on how he was imagining life with his national team-mates):

"I didn't actually, because I didn't know too many of these guys like that, with the exception of Kyrie, me and him we spent time together, Kyle and DeMar, but other than that I had no idea. There are really awesome, really, really, really good dudes on this team."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kyrie Irving, USA men's basketball team guard:(Asked if Carmelo Anthony gave him advice on playing for the national team)

"I think I kind of like to have my own experience within it, whether I do great or I 'f-up', so I'd rather that be on my terms. I feel like he can give me a lot of great advice, but you know, I can only experience it myself."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mike Krzyzewski, USA men's basketball team coach:

"Every team we play has the ability to beat us, any coach will tell you that. It's a 40-minute game, and if you look at it in the other way, then you're not deserving of winning. So we'll respect everyone the same, we'll respect our performance the same against everybody, to that's been a good formula for me my whole life."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Harrison Barnes, USA men's basketball team forward:

"This is a great way to come and to switch your mind off from everything, to focus, throw yourself into a completely new experience and to live out a dream, so definitely I'm really focused on that."
