Cricket: India coach Kumble reflects on draw

Friday, August 05 2016 by SNTV
  • West Indies captain Jason Holder and India coach Anil Kumble comment after the second test match at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica ends in a draw.

SOUNDBITE (English): Anil Kumble, Coach, India (on planning for weather):

"You can't really look at the forecast and decide on what you need to do, yes you strategize slightly differently, but having said that we only wanted to bat once because irrespective of if we had declared at the end of the second day, with only 160 (lead) on the board, you may have batted today. So I don't think you know…it's all nice to sit here today, maybe we should have declared and what if..but I thought we played really good cricket. We were dominant right throughout and today probably the changing momentum happened and credit to the West Indian batsmen. So I don't really look at this as something that ..you obviously feel that from the position that we were in, we should've probably wrapped up the test match. Having said that this is certainly something that - it happens in cricket, it is bound to. You have times when the opposition puts up a brave challenge and that's exactly what happened today."
