In Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday (3rd August) ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games, Great Britain swimming coach Bill Furniss discussed bettering the team's display at London 2012.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Bill Furniss, Team GB swimming coach:
(On improving on Great Britain's results in swimming at London 2012 Olympics).
"I said already, it's a more focussed team. I think we had forty-something athletes in London, we've 26 here - so these guys have come through a pretty stringent selection policy, probably one of the hardest selection policies in the world. We've done a lot of work in the last three and a half years on, I suppose, resilience... and I think the other big thing is the team compete a lot more now, and I think they're a lot more race ready."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Hannah Miley, Team GB swimmer:
"I kind of feel every time I swim I always have a point to prove. You always want to be the best you can possibly be, so every time I go in I try and prove that. I'm going into this competition a lot more relaxed, a lot happier with how things are going for me in training and how things have gone in racing. What happened in London and 'Worlds' (World Championships) and all the other competitions in between are experiences and opportunities that I had. I've learnt from them and they put me in a better position each time. So, going into these Games I feel a lot older and wiser, and a lot more ready and prepared for this. So it's going really well."
SOUNDBITE: (English) James Guy, Team GB swimmer:
(On sharing a room with/habits of gold medal favourite Adam Peaty).
"We first shared in Kazan last year for the first time at the holding camp together, and there are some things that I can't say right now. But no, we kind of get on really well, we've kind of watched a few films together - and we both want the same thing, we both talk about racing. I don't know... he's a boy, see? We're both boys and we're both kind of young teens, so got a couple of things in common - we both kind of, I don't know, break wind now and again like you usually do."
