Saturday, July 30 2016 by SNTV
  • Defender Marquinhos says the whole of Brazil is still scarred by the 2014 World Cup semi-final humbling by Germany on home soil, as they prepare ahead of the host nation's bid for a first Olympic soccer gold.

"Of course it's not easy when you lose at a World Cup at home 7-1 (to Germany). I think that not only them but all Brazilians were scarred from this day on. But we must be firm and keep working hard. Today I have the opportunity of being here representing my country at an extremely important competition for us, pushing to win a first ever gold medal. We are working hard to be prepared the best way possible."

"Look, pressure…despite the age, there are no little boys here. Everybody knows their responsibilities. We have been working since kids on this (pressure). Today, we have a first ever gold medal to achieve. Everybody knows how important this is for us, the technical staff and for the whole country."
