Guardiola: Nasri losing weight; Stones 'we're trying'

Friday, July 29 2016 by SNTV
  • Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed he was watching Samir Nasri's weight and that he's interested in John Stones. City beat the German side, Borussia Dortmund, 6-5 on penalties in Shenzhen, China, on Thursday (28th July).

SOUNDBITE (English) Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager:

(on Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri's weight issue)

"About Samir (Nasri), he arrived (for pre-season training) a little bit overweight but he's much, much, much better now. Much, much better. He fights (fought/trained) a lot in these weeks. Still, there is a little bit of weight. Last season with (his issue of being) overweight he was injured all the season - he won't avoid that. We want to avoid that - the players are on the pitch, they are fit, the weight is in the right place to run 90 minutes like, Tosin (Adarabioyo) today for example, Fernandinho, or like (Aleksandar) Kolarov, or the other ones. But hopefully in the next period he (Nasri) will be in the right way."

SOUNDBITE (English) Pep Guardiola, Manchester City manager:

(on transfer target John Stones, Everton defender)

"He's a player for Everton. Everybody knows we're going to try., and I don't know what is going to happen. What I can say (is that) I am so happy with the squad that we have. The way they train and the way they play, so in that way, it's all I can say."
