  • Sam Allardyce held his first press conference as England manager at St. George's Park on Monday (July 25).

SOUNDBITE (English) Sam Allardyce, England manager
"I would not suggest it is rock bottom, it was disappointing but I don't think it is rock bottom. Part of my expertise over the last few years is people see me going into a club and turning them around very quickly - taking West ham up, saving Blackburn Rover and saving Sunderland. I consider myself to be much more than that personally but that is the label I have been left with. I can turn things around quickly and get amount teams staff and create a successful journey and that starts by us all pulling together. The most important thing is the players and that is why we are all here. Every member of staff works towards the team going on the field and trying to help them to win. Support from the backroom staff is going to be the key element towards helping the players achieve what we all what to see which is an England team being successful. That is going to be the greatest challenge for me in my long career and hopefully I am going to be as successful as I have been at other football clubs."
