  • Igor Stolyarov, CEO of Eventica Sport and Deputy General Director of Sovetsky Sport newspaper reflects of Russia's doping verdict on Tuesday.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Igor Stolyarov, CEO of Eventica Sport and Deputy General Director of Sovetsky Sport newspaper:

"I mean if you take some of the sports like, I don't know, soccer and table tennis or badminton or shooting or whatever, there are not even talks or allegations or... there is no point of taking doping first of all, in a first run. Secondly, there has been no cases reported of Russian athletes or any other athletes of any other countries are taking the doping massively, ok? There are no cases like that. Any collective punishment is wrong."

SOUNDBITE (English) Igor Stolyarov, CEO of Eventica Sport and Deputy General Director of Sovetsky Sport newspaper:

"You know I'm thinking about a 'spit in the face' kind of thing. But that would be a major blow, because if you take Russia as a nation, the contribution in many instances in building the Olympic movement, in contributing to the Olympic movement, in executing Sochi 2014 Olympics, in executing the Univerciade in Kazan 2013, because it's also in the framework of the overall Olympic movement, in participation of the athletes, in active participation of people who have been responsible for the building as I'm putting it, the modern Olympic movement is invaluable, is great, is massive."

SOUNDBITE (English) Igor Stolyarov, CEO of Eventica Sport and Deputy General Director of Sovetsky Sport newspaper:

"There is no trust in the community, there's no trust in the sport community. That reflects not only the situation in sport, the relationship that has been in sport, but that's basically the political situation that has been building up for the last three years. Cold war, iron curtain, all these things. They are connected, not with sports, but they are connected with more let's say high level political situation."
