The Kosovo Olympic Committee announced a team of eight athletes to take part in the nation's first Olympic Games in Rio on Tuesday.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Besim Hasani, President of Kosovo Olympic Committee:

"Today is a special day for Kosovo Olympic movement because today we introduced all athletes who are going to participate at the Olympic Games Rio 2016. This is the first time Kosovo is participating in the Olympic Games so is one historical moment and everybody is happy because for the first time we are feeling what it means to be equal with other athletes worldwide."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Besim Hasani, President of Kosovo Olympic Committee:

"Of course we are very proud that we have eight athletes who are participating in the Olympic Games and two amongst them are with Olympic norms (of Olympic standard), and our expectation and the real expectation, I could say, are that we are going to achieve a medal and our aspiration is even for gold medal."
