  • Open Champion Henrik Stenson shows off the Claret Jug at his home golf club in Barseback, Sweden, on Tuesday.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Henrik Stenson, 2016 Open Champion:

(on how he feels 48 hours after the win at Troon)

"Yeah, I'm trying to get some energy back, there wasn't much sleep the first night, about thirty minutes, then I had a full day in Switzerland yesterday, that was booked in from way back, and then six hours in bed and then back home to Sweden, so... I had a fantastic reception when I came here to Barseback and yeah, I'm enjoying it, it's a great achievement and I'm getting the credit for it, so it's all good."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Henrik Stenson, 2016 Open Champion:

(on being back at his home club)

"Yeah, absolutely and I know the Swedish golf audience and everyone that follows golf has been longing for a Swedish male to win a major for the last 20-25 years, so it feels pretty special to have made that happen and it's definitely the icing on the cake of my career. I've had a long and successful career and a major championship was the only thing missing and I managed to do that. So I'm thrilled and it will take some time for it to sink in completely."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Henrik Stenson, 2016 Open Champion:

(on the upcoming Olympic golf tournament)

"Yeah, first we've got the last major of the year, the PGA Championship next week in New York, so I'm going to try and recharge for that one and then the Olympics come shortly after and it's always an honour to represent your country in the Olympics, or any event really, and I hope I can do that well and I'm looking to leave Rio with a medal, hopefully the best one, but at least a medal in the trophy cabinet would be pretty special, I'm sure."
