  • Shanghai Shenhua's Demba Ba broke his leg during the side's 2-1 victory over local rivals Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League on Sunday (17th July).

Shanghai Shenhua played host to their city rivals Shanghai SIPG on Sunday.

It wasn't until the second half when a breakthrough was made.

Striker Wu Lei put the away side in front shortly after the break,

The game though will be remembered for the horrific injury to Shenhua forward, Demba Ba.

The 31-year-old has made 18 appearances for Shenhua since his move to China in 2015 having previously played for West Ham United, Newcastle United and Chelsea and a lengthy lay-off now seems inevitable.

Ba was carried off on a stretcher as Shenhua fans looked on with concern.

Once play had got underway after the obvious long delay, it was Yunding equalised with just three minutes of normal time to play at the Hongkou Stadium.

Then in the fifth minute of stoppage time, SIPG's Wang Jiajie was shown a red card for bringing down Giovanni Moreno in the penalty area.

Former Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin completed the comeback for the hosts as he found the back of the net.
