Klizan triumphs in straight sets at German Open

  • Martin Klizan beat Pablo Cuevas in straight sets to win the German Open in Hamburg on Sunday (17th July).

    At the German Open in Hamburg, spectators packed the stands to watch the final between Martin Klizan of Slovakia and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay battle it out.

    Klizan, who triumphed at the Rotterdam Open in February was looking to clinch his second ATP World Tour title of the season.

    Despite being out for ten weeks with foot injury, Klizan put it firmly behind him and dominated the encounter from start to finish.

    The world number 47 reeled off five straight games to win the first set 6-1.

    Following an exchange of breaks in the second, he comfortably served out the to take it 6-4 and secure the match without ever dropping a set in the tournament.
