Win puts Croatia back in Davis Cup contention

  • Croatia trails the U.S. 2-1 after Saturday's (16 July) win in doubles, as Ivan Dodig and Marin Cilic beat Bob and Mike Bryan in four sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

    The Davis Cup tie between the USA and Croatia continued on Saturday (16th July) with the doubles.

    Croatian duo Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig won the opening set, however the Bryan brothers took the second for the US.

    The pendulum then swung back towards the Croatians as they re-took the lead by taking the third set 6-2.

    And the Croatians tightened their grip on the match as Marin Cilic hit a crucial winner to break Bryan.

    It was left to Cilic to serve out the match with an ace to give Croatia a crucial victory.

    The US still lead the tie 2-1 overall heading into the next round of singles matches on Sunday (17th July).
