  • Suzuki rider Maverick Vinales topped the MotoGP timesheets on Friday (15th July) at the weather-shortened Free Practice for the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.

Inclement weather disrupted Free Practice for the German Grand Prix on Friday.

After recovering from a brutal fall at Turn 11, Suzuki's Maverick Vinales set the fastest lap to head the timesheets.

Having topped FP1, Andrea Iannone remained consistent on the Ducati - ending the day as the only rider within half a second of Vinales
Marc Marquez, the undisputed 'king of the ring' took third - 0.614-seconds off Vinales' time.

Cal Crutchlow took fourth place on the LCR Honda.

0.113-seconds back from Crutchlow was his twice-former teammate Andrea Dovizioso who was 0.679-seconds off the overall leader. That meant Ducati were again the only team to have both of their bikes in the top five.

Jorge Lorenzo also suffered a big fall at the notorious Turn 11. Lorenzo and teammate Valentino Rossi had a torrid time, finishing 16th and 14th respectively.
