  • Guillermo Garcia-Lopez is through to the quarter-finals of the German Open after beating Slovenia's Grega Zemlja in straight sets on Thursday (14th July).
Seventh seed Martin Klizan is through to the quarter-finals of the German Open after crushing Louis Wessels on Thursday (14th July).

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez was hoping to make his seventh quarter-final appearance of 2016, but had to overcome Slovenia's Grega Zemlja at the German Open.

The Spaniard had struggled on grass, losing in the first round at Wimbledon and Queen's. But he is clearly much happier on clay and he comprehensively outplayed Zemlja in their second round match in Hamburg.

Garcia-Lopez is bidding for his second semi-final appearance of the year and will be confident of achieving that after such a straight forward victory,6-2, 6-2.

The eighth seed will now play Stephane Robert of France in the quarter-finals.

Seventh seed Martin Klizan met home wildcard Louis Wessels in the second round.

These two had never previously met and Wessels will be in no hurry for a rematch after a 6-1, 6-1 thrashing in just 51 minutes.

Klizan completely dominated, breaking the German in his first service game to set the trend for the match.

The Slovak is looking for his second title of the year after winning in Rotterdam in February.

Klizan will face either Daniil Medvedev of Russia or Spain's Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the quarter-finals.
