Sri Lanka due a 'big score' in England - Tharanga

Wednesday, June 29 2016 by SNTV
  • Sri Lanka batsman Upal Tharanga said on Tuesday (28th June) that his can still win the ODI series against England - despite not completing a victory in any format on their tour so far.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Upal Tharanga, Sri Lanka:

"As a team I think we're in good shape. Even though we lost the games (ODIs) I think our batsmen are doing really well. I think we only need a big score. If you look at the last few games, I think everyone got 40, 50. That's why I think we are struggling to 250, 260. As a batting unit, I think we need someone from the top four to get a big score. And if we can get that I think we can get 300 runs."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Upal Tharanga, Sri Lanka:
    (on facing England's bowlers)

"Like, it's not that tough but I think they're doing the basics really well. I think all the bowlers know what is their plan. I think they all stick to one plan, if you look at the last three games, every time we get a partnership, they are getting wickets. That's the main part. As a batting unit, we should concentrate. As I said we need to get a big partnership and big scores."
