Plunkett not focussing on Test recall

Monday, June 27 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from Liam Plunkett following the washed out third one-day international (ODI) between England and Sri Lanka at Bristol on Sunday (26th June).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Liam Plunkett, England pace bowler

(on a possible recall to the England Test side, especially with Jimmy Anderson's fitness a doubt):

"I don't know, because obviously 'Ballie' (Jake Ball) has been going well, he's been in the squad and has got a chance and you've got obviously 'Woodie' (Mark Wood) and 'Stokesie' (Ben Stokes) are fit, so...as I've said, I'm not really thinking about that. After this series I'll go back and try to perform for Yorkshire in the 'red ball' stuff. If you get the nod, then perfect, but if not, you just keep cracking away."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Liam Plunkett, England pace bowler

(on the game and disappointment not to have had a bat):

"We thought we did well to get a tie out of that game (the first ODI in Nottingham), we didn't feel that we played our best cricket. So that just shows you where we are as a team, when we don't play well, we can still get something out of the game. We played obviously better in the last game (Birmingham) and the opening partnership was just ridiculous (Alex Hales and Jason Roy chased down Sri Lanka's total with an unbeaten partnership of 256 as England won by 10 wickets), so we feel in a good place. It would have been nice to have batted today, we felt like we could have got that score, but as I've said, we'll just crack on to The Oval."
