Djokovic tips Raonic and Kyrgios for Wimbledon success

Monday, June 27 2016 by SNTV
  • Novak Djokovic spoke on Sunday (26th June) as he looks ahead to defending his Wimbledon title. Djokovic is the favourite to win the title, but insisted that Andy Murray and Roger Federer remain contenders, while Milos Raonic and Nick Kyrgios are among the younger players he expects to compete.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Novak Djokovic (on other potential winners of the title)

"Well you always have the top players, the ones that are most dominant in the Grand Slams in the previous years are always in contention to win the trophy. Andy Murray, Roger Federer. Without a doubt because of their, first of all rankings, and (also) the history of playing well and winning this tournament, especially Roger for so many times. And then you have I think Milos Raonic has been playing very well and he has a big serve which is an obvious advantage on this surface which is the quickest that we have in the sport. (Nick) Kyrgios is definitely one of the players that can go far so I think it's pretty much an open field and I think that the beauty of all the Grand Slams in this sport is that you always start from scratch and you always start from the same starting position as everybody else and you're fighting for the trophy as equally as everybody else."
