  • Steve Johnson defeated Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4 on Friday (24th June) to book his place in the final of the Aegon Open against Pablo Cuevas.

Second seed Pablo Cuevas and Gilles Muller opened up the semi-final action in Nottingham on Friday.

Muller took the first set 6-3 yet Cuevas came back in the second levelling it up after a tiebreak.

The decider saw the pair hold serve through until the fifth game where the Uruguayan made his move.

Cuevas breaking Muller to lead 3-2.

The second seed would consolidate that break and then serve out for the match.

Cuevas will now go for his first title away from the clay, he's won five titles on the stuff.

The second semi-final of the day saw American Steve Johnson take on Italian Andreas Seppi.

Yet the rain came into the afternoon and at this stage the American was already a set up.

Johnson recorded a notable win over the top seed Kevin Anderson in the quarter-finals, yet was finding the conditions tricky, that awkward looking tumble brought the covers on.

They came back out to beautiful late afternoon sunshine and Johnson at 4-all took the attack to the Seppi serve.

That brought Johnson the chance to serve for the match. He clinched it 6-4.

Johnson and Cuevas will meet for the first time ever in the final here in Nottingham.
