Brexit might be good for English footballers says Dyke

  • FA chairman Greg Dyke gave his thoughts on Britain voting to leave the European Union.

    SOUNDBITE Greg Dyke

I think Brexit will have an impact on football but it's too early to know what. You could think of things, you know the Bosman ruling which had a massive impact on football would no longer apply, unless... no not unless, depending on the conditions we leave. It could be that a lot of the things apply, could be that none of them apply in which case it would fundamentally change. I mean one of the things things that worries me in my time as chairman is how hard it is for young English boys at the top clubs to ever get a game. You know, Rashford is the exception and he only got a game because of three freak injuries. I think, it could change that. So it could mean that more English boys, because if the free movement of labor has gone then not everybody from Europe can come and play here automatically as they do now.

Question: So this could be inspiring for our young footballer

It could be but it depends entirely on the terms of our exit.
