Wales wary of whitewash

  • New Zealand captain Kieran Read and Wales skills coach Neil Jenkins looked forward to the third and final Test in Dunedin on Saturday with the All Blacks seeking to complete a 3-0 series whitewash.

"Obviously it's been two tough games, we know that, two tough Test matches. Probably come down to 10,15 minutes both times where they've gone away from us and I suppose it's purely a fact that they're world champions, they know how to win. They keep winning and they seem to open up that scoreboard quite quickly in that given time. It's something that obviously, as we've said for the last two weeks, we've got to play for the full 80, it's that simple. If we can do that, I've got no doubt that we could give ourselves a chance."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Neil Jenkins, Welsh skills coach:

"We've just got to keep learning, it's simple. As I've said, it's about playing for the full 80 minutes, we've played for 65, I think we've played for 50 then we fell apart, then we come back again and made error after error for about 15 minutes and before we knew it we were 29-10 down. So as I said, it's about playing constantly from the word go until the last minute. You can't switch off for a second against New Zealand, otherwise they will exploit you and they will score. So for us it's concentration from first to last and hopefully we're there or thereabouts at the end and we give ourselves a chance."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kieran Read, New Zealand captain:

"I think the guys are certainly very excited, those guys that have got an opportunity. A couple of local lads are going to go out there and really rip in so it's a nice mix. I think the boys, as a team, want to go out there and deliver a really great performance, I guess, to really put an exclamation mark on the series."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kieran Read, New Zealand captain:

"They've been really strong and physical, so we'll get the same and they'll back themselves as well, they've certainly done that. So we've just to try and get on top of them a bit quicker than what we perhaps have done in the last couple of games."
