Englishman Fisher one shot off Jacquelin in Germany

Friday, June 24 2016 by SNTV
  • Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin shot a seven-under-par round of 65 to lead the BMW International Open in Pulheim, Germany on Thursday (23rd June).

The opening round of the BMW International Open in Pulheim - western Germany - was greeted with beautiful blue skies.

Masters Champion Danny Willett hit a jittery looking putt here at 14, ending up with a double bogey. He carded another of those at 17 and sits at 2 over par after round 1.

Chilean Pablo Aguilar carded for a 5-under 67 and sits two shots off the lead.

That score was matched by Dane Thorbjorn Olsen who lies 30th in the Race to Dubai.

Englishman Oliver Fisher sits in outright second after a faultless first round.

Fisher hit six birdies without a single dropped shot and will be looking for his first European Tour win of the season.

Raphael Jacquelin of France is the man out infront.

The 42-year-old has had a tough time of it recently. Was winning a title back in 2013.

Jacquelin was also without a top 10 finish in 11 months until earlier this month in Sweden.

Yet here the Frenchman dug himself out of some difficult situations and leads by one shot going into Friday's play.
